Paying Fitrana completes your worship for Ramadan and acts as a means of purification for your fasts. Your fasting is increased in reward and allows the poor to celebrate Eid.
At a rate of £5 per person, every Muslim must pay Fitranah, regardless of age. You can make your family’s payment on their behalf as a contribution must be made by or for each member of the household.
Fitrana must be paid before Eid prayers commence to allow your donation to reach those who need it in time. Your generosity will enable someone who is hungry to eat a meal that satisfies their hunger.
Fitranah is due to all members of your family
It must be paid before Eid
It is distributed to feed the poor during the days of Eid
With Save an Orphan, your donation of the equivalent of one saa’ or scooped handful of staple food will provide a nutritious meal for orphans, children and communities living in poverty.
“The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) ordained Zakat Al-Fitr to purify the fasting person from indecent words or actions, and to provide food for the needy. It is accepted as Zakat for the person who gives it before the Eid prayer; but it is a sadaqah for the one who gives it after the prayer. ” (Dawud)
