Fulfil your obligation of Eid by paying your compulsory charity of £5 due to mark the end of Ramadan.
At a rate of £5 per person, every Muslim must pay Fitrana, regardless of age. You can make your family’s payment on their behalf as a contribution must be made by or for each member of the household.
Fitrana must be paid before Eid prayers commence to allow your donation to reach those who need it in time. Your generosity will enable someone who is hungry to eat a meal that satisfies their hunger.
“The Messenger of Allah (sawh) ordained Zakat Al-Fitr to purify the fasting person from indecent words or actions, and to provide food for the needy. It is accepted as Zakat for the person who gives it before the Eid prayer; but it is a sadaqah for the one who gives it after the prayer.” (Dawud)
