Rabbi Al-Awwal is the month of our Prophet

The virtuous month of Rabbi Al-Awwal is the month when Prophet Muhammed (saw) was born. It’s reported that the 12th of Rabbi Al-Awwal is his birth date. This means that Rabbi Al-Awwal is a month full of virtue, it’s a month that’s special and full of blessings.

The literal meaning of Rabi’-ul-Awwal is ‘the first spring’ but today it takes on a more metaphorical meaning. It’s all about refreshing your intentions and new beginnings. Just like Spring is a renewal, use Rabbi Al-Awwal to refresh your soul by doing good deeds.

Follow his footsteps and adopt his lessons

Don’t miss out on the rewards on offer this month by learning more about our Prophet (saw) and adopting his ways. This month is the best time to get closer to the sunnah and his ways. It’s the perfect time to remind ourselves of the Prophet’s (saw) life by reading his biography or listening to lectures about his life.

During this special month, many blessings are showered down on us and we have a chance to gain many rewards. Rabbi Al-Awwal is a chance for us to get closer to Allah and Islam. As the name suggests, it’s a brilliant time to refresh your knowledge of the Prophet’s sunnah’s as well as start new beginnings.

‘The Prophet is closer to the believers than their own selves’.

(Qur’an, 33:6)

Honour his legacy and help orphans

Generosity and kindness was a big part of our Prophet’s life. Follow in his footsteps and show kindness to those who need it most during this virtuous month. Nothing was closer to the Prophet (saw) than helping orphans as he himself was orphaned at a young age.

‘The Prophet (saw) said, “The one who cares for an orphan and myself will be together in Paradise like this,“and he (saw) held his two fingers together to illustrate’. [Bukhari]

Lastly, we encourage you to pray for the prophet (saw) and honour his ways by adopting his way of life during the blessed month that’s upon us. Rabi’-ul-Awwal is a time for being grateful to Allah for the amazing blessing of sending the Prophet (saw) to us and guiding us.
